- **Event Description**: Come join the fun as we "laissez les bons temps roulette" (let the good times roll), just a little bit longer! 

Bring your best gumbo recipe and put it to the test. Believe us when we say, YOU WILL BE JUDGED... at least your gumbo will be.  Three categories of winners:

Best in Show - judged by our esteemed panel of judges - gumbo lovers, food critics, and for good measure, we are gonna throw a couple Cajun folk into the mix. ($35 entry fee)

People's choice - Get your $5  tasting cups and bring out your inner gumbo judge! We want to hear what the people have to say about who has the best gumbo in Sunny San Leon. ($10 entry fee)

Showmanship - decorate your spot like it's on display in the French quarter because we will be looking for the best!  So bring it.

There will be live music by San Leon's very own, Andy & The Dreamsicles. They played for us last year and did NOT disappoint. 

It's going to be a great day of food, fun, and festivities, so come out and be a part of it! 

RULES:

Must cook at least two (2) gallons.

Must cook onsite. Roux may be cooked at home. If cooked at home, it must be inspected at check-in, before cooking the remainder of the dish.

Participants may turn in the gumbo of their choice and are not limited to chicken and sausage/seafood.  

Schedule of events:

Teams may begin setup at 8:00 a.m.  

The event opens to the public at 11 am (Taster’s Choice).

Turn-in is at 2 pm.

Judging of Showmanship (best decorated booth) is at 3 pm.

Awards are at 4 pm.

All cook sites are a 12 x 12 area and must be kept clean.

100% of all entry fees for “Best in Show” will be appropriately divided between first (1st) and second (2nd), depending on the number of entries received.  

San Leon American Legion Post 291 is not responsible for any injuries or accidents that may occur.

By signing the entry form accompanying these rules, participants acknowledge that they have fully read, understand, and agree to adhere to all Cook-off rules, procedures, and schedule.
