Join us at the Theodore Roosevelt Center for a special community open house celebrating Theodore Roosevelt's enduring connection to western North Dakota.
Doors open at 12:00 p.m., with light refreshments served as guests explore the Center's exhibits and learn more about Roosevelt's time in the Badlands and his lasting impact on the region.

At 12:30 p.m., Dr. William J. Hansard will portray Theodore Roosevelt and present Roosevelt's famous Dickinson speech
"Doing As Our Forefathers Did"
also known as
"I Like Big Things"
Originally delivered on July 5, 1886

Delivered during one of Roosevelt's visits to North Dakota, the speech reflected his deep admiration for the people, landscape, and spirit of the Badlands, a place he often credited with shaping both his character and his leadership. 

Following the presentation, guests are invited to continue exploring the exhibits and enjoy the open house before heading to Dickinson State University for the afternoon performance of Teddy & Alice, a musical celebration of Theodore Roosevelt and his daughter Alice.
