- **Event Description**: 🌐🛎️💛🧸🚓🚒In September 2010, "Teddy" Bears on Patrol was the North Bay Civitan Club’s very first community service project. 

This signature project is always held on a Saturday at the Promenade Shopping Center in D'Iberville, Mississippi. The selected date for this service project has a three-fold meaning: to celebrate National Teddy Bear Day, Sept. 9; to commemorate the North Bay Civitan Club's charter date with Civitan International on September 10, 2010; and, to never forget the lives lost on Patriots Day, Sept. 11, 2001. 

What Happens during the BEARS ON PATROL DRIVE-THRU?

10:00 a.m. - Civitans and student volunteers shall finish preparing the event site at the D'Iberville Promenade Shopping Center in the Target parking lot east of the AT&T store and diagonal from DRINX.

10:30 a.m. - Civitans and student volunteers shall pause to remember the heroic lives lost on 9-11. Volunteers shall gather in a circle around our Civitan Bell. Our Club Chaplain will provide a special prayer, and volunteers will ring the Civitan Bell. The bell shall be rung nine times representing the month of September before a 25-second moment of silence representing the 25th anniversary of 9-11, and finally, an additional eleven rings for the day of this tragedy in 2001. 

11:00 a.m. - The U-shaped drive-thru opens to the public. Drivers may enter to donate new or gently-used TEDDY BEARS ONLY. The teddy bears are used by first responding agencies in situations where youth are involved. Volunteers shall check each teddy bear for cleanliness before tagging each with a message of comfort. Donors may want to park in the parking lot and walk up with donations. Cash donations will be accepted in the drive-thru, too.

2:00 p.m. - The drive-thru closes to the public and volunteers will take a group picture with the accepting agency(ies) on-site. Barricades will be placed back in one area of the parking lot.

WANT TO HELP EARLY?
Starting in August 2026, we will announce teddy bear drop-off sites for this project. We encourage the community to be involved in this project. Any businesses, schools, or churches that would like to participate by collecting teddy bears early should seek permission from North Bay Civitan Club, first, to avoid any confusion. If you want to help, you will agree to be responsible for marketing our Bears on Patrol Drive-Thru in addition to you own collection. You will be required to bring your teddy bears to the drive-thru event on Sept. 19. North Bay Civitan Club is unable to accept teddy bears earlier than Sept. 19 or after Sept. 19. 

NOTE: We only accept teddy bears, no other stuffed animals or dolls.
