As global energy demands rise and the challenges of climate change escalate, the need for efficient grid design and sustainable energy management has become more urgent than ever. For a rapidly developing nation like Bangladesh, ensuring reliable electricity, integrating renewable energy sources, and maintaining grid stability are crucial to driving economic growth and securing a sustainable future. Addressing these priorities requires both innovative technologies and informed policy frameworks.
This year, PowerExpress emphasizes another key priority in Bangladesh’s energy landscape. This mega event, organised by the IEEE NSU PES Student Branch Chapter, IEEE NSU SB and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of North South University, supported by IEEE PES and in collaboration with IEEE Bangladesh Section, IEEE NSU RAS SBC, IEEE NSU IAS SBC, IEEE NSU SB WIE AG brings together students, young professionals, industry leaders, and policymakers for a day-long program of learning, innovation, and collaboration. The program features a series of inspiring keynote talks, impactful panel discussions, and interactive competitions designed to turn fresh ideas into real-world solutions. Key highlights include sessions on “Renewable & Sustainable Energy Integration: Bangladesh’s Path to SDG 7”, “Research Frontiers in Sustainable Energy Systems,” and “Private Sector Innovations Driving the Energy Transition.” Additionally, a panel discussion focusing on “Collaborative Pathways for a Green Energy Future” will engage participants in dialogue around overcoming challenges and advancing progress.
Following these sessions, an exciting idea generation competition, the “PowerVision Challenge,” will invite participants to tackle predefined cases related to SDG 7 targets, such as renewable grid integration, rural electrification, and energy efficiency in a 3 minute pitch. The final segment of the day features a Quiz Segment titled “Energy-Sprint”, where participants will dive into showcasing their knowledge and ideas in the field of power.
The event concludes with a Closing & Awards Ceremony, which will inspire and celebrate innovation and collaboration. More than an event, PowerExpress 2.0 is a platform that connects academia, industry, and young innovators, empowering participants to actively contribute to a sustainable energy future.
