ABOUT THE ARTIST Born in Rajshahi, Alamgir Parvez Sumon began learning music from his grandmother, Momena Khatun. He later received formal training from Ustad Sheikh Badiuzzaman and Ustad Kazi Sultan Mahmud before studying dhrupad and khayal under Professor Asit Roy. He also received specialised training in the Agra gharana from Pandit Rajesh Kelkar. As a child artist, he received multiple awards and was selected by the Government of Bangladesh as a junior ambassador to attend a children’s conference in Fukuoka, Japan. As an ICCR scholar, he completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, India. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Music at the University of Rajshahi.
