With our country having an almost 50:50 ratio of male and female population, we believe this equality should be reflected across all sectors. To promote gender equality, the IER Debating Club successfully hosted four seasons of the National British Parliamentary Debate Tournament, called "50-50," over the last four years. This year, we’re going to make it more explicit and eventful. With the theme of "Pacing Towards Equality," IERDC invites you to the Open British Parliamentary Debate Tournament named, 50-50: Season 5.0!

From the adjudication panel to debate teams, tab team, equity team, and motion committee, each component of this tournament will feature an equal number of male and female participants. Here we celebrate equality in each and every sphere of debate.

Teams must register with the same members listed during pre-registration. Any request for changes or updates to team composition will result in the cancellation of your slot, and a team from the waiting list will be invited to participate instead.

Please note that any team found to have altered their team name or members on the event day will be disqualified, and a swing team will replace them
