- **Event Description**: Philadelphia area songwriters who have played at the famous Kerrville Folk Festival will come together in song to raise funds for the victims of the devastating floods in that Texas city this past July. The event will be hosted by renowned songwriter John Flynn, who serves as emcee at the Philadelphia Folk Festival; and Aaron Nathans, who co-hosts the monthly series Philly Songwriters in the Round.

Five of the six songwriters are alumni of the festival's New Folk contest. Flynn, who has played on Kerrville’s main stage, emceed the contest last year. Over the years, artists like Lyle Lovett, Nanci Griffith, Steve Earle, Robert Earl Keen, James McMurtry, Anaïs Mitchell, Shawn Colvin, and Liz Longley (among many others) have stood on the New Folk stage early in their careers. Today, hundreds of songwriters continue to submit their work each year for the chance to be part of this extraordinary lineage.

In addition to Flynn and Nathans, the artists include Hope Dunbar of New Hope, PA; Erik Balkey (who won the New Folk contest in 2005) of Mt. Tabor, NJ; Andrew Dunn of Lebanon, NJ; and Letitia Van Sant (who won the contest in 2017), of Baltimore.

All proceeds from the concert (after expenses) will benefit the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund of the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country. All artists are donating their services for this event.

We are seeking donations of $25 or more. Checks can be made out to Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country w/ "Kerr County Flood Relief Fund" in the memo line. Cash will be accepted, or you can make an online donation to the fund at the door.
