In the spirit of the rent party tradition, which offered a DIY solution for families facing eviction in the 1920’s while playing a major role in the historic development of jazz and blues music, South Oakland Shelter presents our third annual Rent Party.
This annual event will be held on Saturday, June 2nd at the former Stanley Kresge estate – renovated by Paddy Lynch – in the Arden Park-East Boston Historic District. The event features three stages of jazz, including RJ Spängler's Planet D Nonet with special guest Thornetta Davis, and the Michael L. Jellick Quartet, with a delicious strolling dinner, open bar, and special pre-party Arden Park estate tours for VIP guests.
Sponsorship & Friends of Rent Party VIP packages are now available at http://my.southoaklandshelter.org/rentparty
with a limited number of general admission tickets to be released on April 2nd. Note that space is limited and we tend to sell out quickly.
This event has raised over $100,000 for SOS since its inception in 2016. All proceeds go to directly support men, women, and children experiencing homelessness through housing and rental assistance programs. Learn more about SOS at http://www.southoaklandshelter.org/
Special thanks to our early sponsors: Chemical Bank, Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe, Ethan and Gigi Davidson, Howard & Wendy Hertz, St. David's Episcopal Church, and St. John Providence.
