This HBO documentary from director Peter Kunhardt focuses on the last three years of King's life. The film mixes archival footage (including never before seen footage of Dr. King) with current interviews with his friends and associates (Joan Baez, Harry Belafonte, Joseph Califano, Dorothy Cotton, Jesse Jackson, Bernard Lafayette, John Lewis, etc.) to create a fascinting portrait of a man facing internal conflict as well as increased pressures from both the outside world and his own ranks.
King in the Wilderness received a score of 100% on the film review site Rottentomatoes.
