This approximately 8-mile bike ride departs from the Dequindre Cut Greenway (North End), Wilkins Street Entrance in historic Eastern Market, travelling the Dequindre Cut to Atwater Brewing Detroit, where you get rewarded with a pint of Atwater's finest. Next, we head east for a visit to Brewery Faisan for a pint of their delicious Belgian-inspired beer, stopping along the way at historic Elmwood Cemetery to pay our respects to some of Detroit's legendary beer barons. Next, we return to Eastern Market and view the former locations of the Stroh and Goebel factories, Detroit's largest breweries of the mid-20th century. Finally, we stop at Lagerhaus No. 5 for a celebratory pint of their German-inspired beer as we wrap up the bike tour. From Lagerhaus, the entrance to the Dequindre Cut Greenway Wilkins Street Parking Lot is just 0.5 miles due north.For this exclusive tour, you'll be guided by Certified Cicerone® and Michigan Brew Tours' owner John Turnage who will share the history of Detroit's storied brewing industry, from the 19th century beer barons, to the speakeasies and rum runners of Prohibition, and finally to the vibrant craft beer scene of present day Detroit.A pint or equivalent of your choice at each tour stop is included. Water and light snacks will be provided along the tour route, but eating a healthy meal prior to the tour is recommended.BYOB (Bring Your Own Bike): Tour participants need to bring their own bicycle, bike lock, bike helmet, and water bottle - safety and hydration are required! The 8-mile route is paved and mostly flat, but know your limits! Please dress for the weather and bring sunscreen as needed.BIKE RENTALS: Bikes are available for rent in Eastern Market from one of three MoGo stations in the Market: Dequidre Cut Freight Yard, Wilkins St & Russell St, and Gratiot Ave & Russell St. Bike rentals are also available nearby from Wheelhouse Detroit.PLEASE NOTE: Michigan Brew Tours is not responsible for mechanical issues, flat tires, injury, or accident during the tour.
