Now in its 6th year, what started as a grassroots picnic has grown into a citywide movement  hundreds of women, families, and community partners gathering on the grass to breathe, connect, and be held.This is not a festival you attend. It's a space you belong to.What to Expect1000 Books for Black Girls Free, culturally affirming books distributed to youth  because representation on the shelf matters as much as representation in the room.Community Resource Row Local organizations and resources, in one place, no appointment needed.Wellness Workshops & Black Girl Marketplace All rooted in the same intention: joy without justification.The Details Location: Roosevelt Park, Detroit, MI Date: Saturday, August 15, 2026 Time: Doors open at 2:30pmHosted by: BLK GRL CONGLOMERATEGood to Know Before You ComeFree street parking is available along Michigan Avenue, 14th Street, and Vernor Highway. A digital parking map will be shared closer to the event.Shuttle service will run continuously from the Bagley Mobility Hub for guests who'd rather skip the walk. ADA drop-off and accessibility support available near the park entrance.Guests are encouraged to arrive 30–minutes early to park, settle in, and ease into the day.It Doesn't Have to End SaturdayIf one day of rest isn't enough, it doesn't have to be. The Black Girl Bus Ride departs Detroit the next morning — Sunday, August 16 for a deeper exhale: 2 licensed therapists on board, healing circles, journaling, and Lake Michigan waiting at the end of the road.
