A blend of guidebook and journal, Bloom How You Must explores several distinct pillars of wellness, featuring:Research from leading wellness expertsInterviews with women aged 19–99Stories of personal experienceOverviews and explanations of each component of self-careDedicated pages for readers to reflect on each chapterExercises to put wellness into practiceEasy-to-follow explanatory graphics and sidebarsBloom How You Must is a love letter to the millions of Black women who want a less stressful life but don’t know where to begin.Copies of Tara's book will be available for sale from Source Booksellers.About Tara: Tara Pringle Jefferson is author of Bloom How You Must: A Black Woman’s Guide to Self-Care and Generational Healing (Amistad/HarperCollins), a communal memoir exploring the historical and cultural legacy of holistic wellness among Black women. A certified breathwork facilitator and wellness advocate, Jefferson is founder of The Self Care Suite, a digital wellness community for Black women. Over the last decade, Jefferson has brought her wellness expertise to corporate audiences including WW, SiriusXM, Wayfair, and Priceline. Her voice has been featured on New York magazine’s The Cut, Black Enterprise, and Essence. When she’s not writing, she finds peace among her houseplants and flowers. A Cleveland native, she lives in northeast Ohio with her husband and two children.About Alandra: Alandra Chuney Jackson, LMSW is a Detroit-born therapist, speaker, event curator, and founder of The Sisters’ Couch, a mental health and wellness collective dedicated to reimagining how Black women experience healing, rest, and community care. A graduate of Michigan State University and Wayne State University, Alandra is a TF-CBT certified therapist with over a decade of experience supporting individuals in their emotional wellness journeys. Her clinical and community work centers Black women as they navigate identity, relationships, motherhood, burnout, and life transitions, while actively challenging the stigma surrounding mental health in Black communities.Through The Sisters’ Couch, Alandra has built a first-of-its-kind healing ecosystem in Detroit—one that blends mental health education, culturally grounded wellness experiences, intentional community gatherings, and access to affirming therapeutic resources. The Sisters’ Couch exists as a soft landing place and a bold invitation: for Black women to be seen, supported, and poured into without apology.When she is not creating spaces for healing and connection, Alandra enjoys coloring with her spirited daughter, sipping matcha or herbal tea, and hosting intimate gatherings that remind women they do not have to heal aloneThis is NOT a ticketed event, which means seats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
