Why play Bonnie and Stevie? Because their music is just so darn good!! Pick up any album of Bonnie’s or Stevie’s and we dare you not to love it! Beth Stalker will be singing Bonnie Raitt’s songs, Brett Lucas and Johnny Rhoades will be handling both Stevie Ray’s vocals and guitar stylings. On bass guitar is the fabulous Chuck Bartels and on drums will be Detroit’s power house Todd Glass. Now you might be asking yourself where is the similarity between SRV and Bonnie Raitt? Well, not only did they tour together many times, but Stevie Ray’s brother Jimmy Vaughan is currently on tour with Bonnie Riatt! Plus they both rocked Fender Stratocasters…as all the guitar fans out there know. Texas native Stevie Ray Vaughan not only rose out of Austin to be one of the Blues greats, but he almost single handedly lead a Blues resurgence in the late 1980’s and 1990’s. His guitar playing and tone were so powerful that it is still being talked about in guitar magazines all over the world! In our opinion, his playing was so good, that it even might of overshadowed his amazing soulful vocals and the originality in the song writing of his music. Little known fact, Doyle Bramhall wrote many of Stevie’s songs. His son Doyle Bramhall II, tours as Eric Clapton’s guitarist and was founding member of the Arc Angels. So you know he’s good! Stevie’s big hits like “Pride and Joy”, “Lovestruck Baby” and “Cold Shot” have now become classics.The California native Bonnie Raitt, seems to have been born with a guitar slide on her left hand and a sultry voice that can make people want to fall in love at first listen! From her 70’s hit with John Prine’s penned “Angel from Montgomery” to the 90’s hit “Something to Talk About,” Bonnie has class and brass! She can hang with the best of them and the coolest of them, like when she toured with Detroit’s Blues legend John Lee Hooker!
