Hosted by the Des Moines Rowing Youth Program at our Easter Lake Boathouse.Format: We'll start with the basics of the stroke on the erg (rowing machine), rowing terms, coxing, and parts of the boat. From there, we will transition to how to get in and out of the boat and go out on the water in an eight-person boat with a mix of new and experienced rowers. You'll apply the basics you learned on the erg and begin learning to row on the water.Limitations: Open to youth in Grades 8-12 (ages 12-18). Youth will be required to wear a lifejacket while on the water.What to Bring: Wear athletic clothing with tennis shoes and socks. If you are wearing shorts do not wear baggy ones as they can get caught on the tracks of the seats.
