Brian D. McLaren - WISDOM FOR A WORLD FALLING APART: WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS FROM PEOPLE OF FAITH
St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and Student Center at Drake University presents its Dialogue Series. “Faith in Action for the Common Good” is the theme of this series, which aspires to be a catalyst for transformative spiritual growth for persons of all walks of faith.
What is “contemplative action” and how do we “do it?” What does it look like to approach direct service, social justice, or outreach in ways that impact individuals and the community around us? Drawing from Franciscan spirituality and her many years of experience in direct service and social justice advocacy, Susie Tierney will share her Top 10 list of ways to stay grounded, balanced, and effective in our direct service, outreach, and/or social justice efforts, in a way that contributes to the common good of our communities. The presentation will include time for small-group conversation as well as time to identify practical next steps.
