What is Small Business Connect?
Small Business Connect is a FREE quarterly networking series hosted by the City of Des Moines. It’s designed to bring together current and aspiring small business owners from all backgrounds to connect, share ideas, and build community.

This Quarter’s Focus: Workforce Development
This quarter’s Small Business Connect will center on workforce development, one of the most common and complex challenges for growing small businesses. From deciding when the time is right to hire to navigating the differences between employees and contracted workers, owners are constantly balancing capacity with cost. This roundtable offers a space for entrepreneurs to share real-world strategies, lessons learned, and insights about building a team that supports both business goals and personal growth as an owner. The conversation will also touch on professional development, exploring how investing in oneself as a business leader can be just as important as investing in staff.
