Characters Gloria Female-presenting | 25- 50 | African- American, Woman of Color A historian documenting one of the darkest chapters in recent American history. Intelligent, composed, persistent, and morally driven, Gloria approaches the interview with professionalism but refuses to accept easy answers. She possesses quiet strength, emotional resilience, and an unwavering commitment to uncovering the truth. Rick Male-presenting | 30 - 55 | White Former superintendent of a federal detention facility awaiting sentencing for crimes committed under government authority. Rick is charismatic, practical, and deeply human—neither a caricature nor a villain. He genuinely believes he was doing his job, making his gradual revelations all the more unsettling. The role requires emotional complexity, vulnerability, and the ability to navigate subtle shifts between confidence, regret, denial, and self-awareness. Audition Information Actors may either perform a contemporary dramatic monologue (approximately 1–2 minutes) or read from a side selection. Actors should also be prepared to read sides from the script as requested.
