- **Event Description**: WORLD BOOK NIGHT is for everyone, whether you read regularly or less often, and is the perfect opportunity to celebrate books and the difference they make to your life and others. 

At Little Acorns Bookstore, we are delighted to open especially for WORLD BOOK NIGHT on Wednesday 23 April with an evening of celebrating and championing books, reading quietly and/or aloud, followed by chat and discussion over two floors, in two rooms.

From 6pm - 7pm, folks are welcome to browse the bookshop, meet and greet, have a cuppa and settle in for the evening.

From 7pm - 8pm, we will participate in the nationwide #ReadingHour to create positive reading habits. 

There will be one room dedicated for 'quiet reading' with participants reading alone but sharing the same space with each other.
Another room will be dedicated for 'read-aloud' with participants reading for ten minute slots to the rest of the group. 

Books will be provided from the QUICK READS selection of 2025.

From 8pm - 9pm, we will all then congregate together to discuss and chat about the overall experience; how being read to or reading alone made each person feel; what folks thought of the book choices; what other suggested books would you recommend and would like to do this again and on a more regular basis?

Entry £3 includes a hot/cold drink plus snacks and one of the Quick Read titles.

Booking is essential. See link above (which will also incur a handling fee by the server of 96p). 

Payment may also be paid in cash by booking directly with Little Acorns Bookstore. 


WORLD BOOK NIGHT was first celebrated in the UK and Ireland in 2011 on 5 March. In 2012 it was moved to 23 April, the UNESCO International Day of the Book and, probably, the birth and death date of William Shakespeare.
