Jointly and independently these lifestyle biggies are at best lowering our quality of life and at worst making us sick. But better quality sleep is within your grasp and managing your stress in today's frantic world is not only possible, but essential if you want to live a long and fulfilling life.
The World Health Organization calls stress ‘the health epidemic of the twenty-first century’. "Common complaints such as low libido, anxiety, poor memory, inability to concentrate and many gut problems seem completely unrelated but often have stress as a root cause." says Dr Rangan Chatterjee.
All that coupled with the fact that we are living in the middle of a sleep deprivation epidemic. We are sleeping about 1-2 hours less than we were sixty years ago which equates to losing 25% of our sleep. A lack of sleep is associated with all kinds of negative health consequences including increased risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease.
But you can do something about it. Many of us struggling with Sleep and Stress are unconsciously doing something in everyday life that is negatively impacting our ability to sleep and deal with stress in our lives.
