The North West Road Safety Partnership, in collaboration with the Life After charity, are proud to announce the return of Road Safety Saturday to Guildhall Square, Derry/Londonderry on Saturday 15th November 2025, to help launch Northern Ireland Road Safety Week here in the North West, which runs from 16th – 22nd November.

This free public event aims to engage with families, young people, local drivers and vulnerable road users ahead of the darker winter months, to reinforce the simple but critical messages that save lives on our roads.

With 42 people already losing their lives on Northern Ireland’s roads this year, the call to action has never been more urgent.

As we move into winter, a high-risk period for collisions – Road Safety Saturday will highlight the Fatal 5 causes of serious injuries and deaths on our roads:

• Speed
• Drink or drug driving
• Distractions – including using your mobile phone
• Careless driving
• Not wearing a seatbelt

The Partnership will be joined on the day by key agencies and emergency services, including the Department for Infrastructure, PSNI, PCSP, Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service, the NI Ambulance Service, Derry City & Strabane District Council, and a number of local businesses who continue to support this event and help make it possible.

Visitors to Guildhall Square will have the opportunity to meet road safety officers, view displays, speak with frontline responders and learn more about how small choices can make the difference between life, serious injury – or death.

Events like Road Safety Saturday are vital to remind people that every single decision made behind the wheel, on a bike, or even crossing the road, matters.”
