Key Stage 3: Digital Skills: coding in the classroom (5 day support programme) (CCEA - Curriculum)
Key Stage 3Digital Skills: coding in the classroom28th January – 1st February 2019CCEA, in conjunction with Kainos, has developed a support programme for discrete ICT/Computing teachers. The purpose of the training is to upskill teachers and to encourage schools to teach programming and coding at Key Stage 3. We are specifically seeking to work with schools who are promoting coding within their area learning community or through a shared education partnership.
Target Audience:This programme is specifically targetted at discrete ICT/Computing teachers with a mix of ability, from those who have no computing or programming experience to those who have a degree in Computing & IT but whose knowledge is not up to date.
The training will be facilitated by CCEA Education Managers and industry experts from Kainos (www.kainos.org.uk)
Duration: 1 weekDates: Monday 28th January – Friday 1st February 2019Attendees will attend on each of the 5 days
Benefits to teachers:Through this support, the attendees will be:
Introduced to Computational Thinking - a problem solving process used in the development of computer applications
Taught the theory and foundations of programming
Guided through a series of practical examples and tutorials using the programming language Python
Teachers will have the opportunity to develop confidence and practical skills and will gain an insight into the industry approaches and applications. Delegates will therefore be well equipped to apply their practical skills and knowledge in their teaching and learning on return to school.
Teacher release will be provided for all 5 days. The code will be given in your confirmation email.
