A presentation and discussed by Priscilla Howe, titled "One Potato, Two Potato: Campfire Tales and Children's Folklore in Kansas and Beyond," will be enjoyable for people o all ages on Saturday, July 11, starting at 11:00 AM. The museum is located at 710 E. Market in Derby, Kansas. The program is made possible by Humanities Kansas.

Priscilla Howe is a professional storyteller, author, and a 2015 Fulbright Senior Scholar. A former children's librarian, Howe moved to Lawrence, Kansas, in 1993 and became a global storyteller who has shared stories on four different continents.

The presentation will delve into a variety of children's folklore, from playground games to counting-out rhymes, urban legends, silly campfire stories, and more. It will explore how this intangible cultural heritage gets passed down through generations. Are there aspects we should reconsider passing along, and could there be deeper meanings behind this "kid stuff"?

This program is part of Humanities Kansas' Speakers Bureau, featuring humanities-based presentations designed to share stories that inspire, spark conversations that inform, and generate insights that strengthen civic engagement.
