- **Event Description**: We now have a confirmed date for the second running of our very own Derwent Runners 4, incorporating the ‘Derby Mile’ – Sunday 21st June 2026. Starting at Derbyshire County Cricket Club, the route then goes out onto the famous Racecourse. As before, there will be a Family Run immediately after the main race.

If you didn’t do it last year, and just to be clear, you only run four miles, and all in one go. The USP of our race is that the fourth and final mile of the race essentially constitutes a separate event. This is a fast, flat, chip timed race, with age graded prizes for the four mile race, and a special trophy for the fastest male and fastest female over the final mile (ie the 'Derby Mile'). There will also be goody bags for all finishers.

We got some lovely feedback from the inaugural event last year and will endeavour to make it even better this year. 

If you don’t already know, we are running our Derby Mile on the site of not only the original Derby Mile horse race, not run since 1939, but also five FA Cup semi-finals and a final back in the nineteenth century.

The race was created as part of a desire to improve mental health and community engagement in sport. To this end, our race partners are the mental health charity Mind, and the Derbyshire Cricket Foundation.
