Collaboration Between Salib Putih Christian Social Foundation and Kartenz Animation Studios Brings an Iconic Educational Agri-Tourism Park to Central Java, Salatiga

Known for its cool climate and beautiful natural scenery, the city of Salatiga is preparing to introduce a new flagship destination. Through a strategic collaboration between Yayasan Sosial Kristen Salib Putih and Kartenz Animation Studios, an educational agri-tourism area based on coffee plantations, a dairy farm, and a museum is being developed as a space for recreation, learning, and local economic growth.

This collaboration combines the social management experience of the Salib Putih Foundation with Kartenz’s creativity as the owner of animated character Intellectual Properties (IP). The result is an integrated tourism concept that not only showcases nature’s beauty, but also invites visitors to understand the world of agriculture in a fun and interactive way.

In this area, tourists can learn the coffee process from upstream to downstream, from recognizing plant varieties, planting techniques, harvesting, roasting, to packaging ready-to-consume products. Visitors can even pick coffee beans during harvest season and experience firsthand how coffee quality is shaped from the plantation.

The development site, located in Salatiga’s cool and natural environment, makes it ideal as a family-friendly destination for schools and communities. Rather than simply sightseeing, visitors are invited to directly engage with agriculture through a light, enjoyable educational approach.

In addition to the coffee plantation, the area also features an Educational Dairy Farm. Children and families can learn about dairy cattle, milking processes, fresh milk processing, and the importance of animal welfare. All activities are designed interactively so education feels like an adventure, not just theory.

As a complement, the Witte Kruis Koffie Museum highlights the history of the Salib Putih area. The museum tells the story of a cross-national couple, Adolf Theodore Jacobus Van Emmerick from the Netherlands and Alice Cornelia Cleverly from England, who laid social and humanitarian foundations through coffee plantations in the region.

Another unique element of this project is Kartenz’s involvement through its animated characters. These characters will become mascots of the agri-tourism park and appear in visuals, stories, signage, and learning media. Through a storytelling approach, children are invited to learn while imagining, making the tourism experience more lively and memorable. This collaboration produces a unique and easy-to-remember name: Kartenz Socia Park, a place where agricultural tourism, education, and social values come together as one.
