Featuring performances by Neoma, ArtistiCO, Franklin Cruz, Nancy Viera, and Mariella Saavedra Carquin.Presented MCA Denver, KUVO Jazz, the Mexican Cultural Center, and Manuel Aragon.About The Performers is a queer Latin poet born in Idaho, raised in Texas, and polished in Denver. Born from an immigrant family, they work at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and are also an emcee and a dancer. A TEDx Mile High performer, they have taught and performed across the Southwest, Peru, and Puerto Rico, for universities, environmental leadership camps, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and the Denver Art Museum. Their work encompasses self-love, immigration, culture, nature, and more. Franklin always aims to address intersectional liberation—confronting our complicity in privilege and oppression, and emphasizing the critical lesson of specificity over simplicity. is a multi-hyphenated artist and cultural worker with an energetic dedication to serve her community. She is the author of a memoir, The Grief and The Happiness, and has written a poetry collection, Silhouette. She is also the host of City Silhouettes, a local artist showcase. Viera writes both in English and Spanish and is an Ofrendas Facilitator with the Latino Cultural Arts Center. Her work has been showcased at the Denver Art Museum. has practiced as a licensed mental health counselor in New York City in clinical, higher education, and middle school settings and now works as a clinician in integrated pediatric primary care. She is a graduate of Middlebury College, holds an EdM and an MA in psychological counseling from Columbia University, and recently earned an MA from Middlebury’s Bread Loaf School of English. She was the first-place winner of the Robert Haiduke Poetry Prize in 2020 and the 3rd place winner in 2022. Her first collection of poetry, Maps You Can’t Make, is a timely meditation on trauma, the disorientation of it, and how we carry it. This vivid exploration of grief and loss focuses on the immigrant experience, memory and identity, the fragmentation of relationships, and the power of dreams. In addition to writing poetry, she has published in various academic journals on the psychological impact of microaggressions experienced by undocumented immigrant youth. Born in Lima, Peru, and raised in Miami, Florida, she currently lives in Colorado. strives to build community by providing a well-rounded dance academy serving children and youth, providing educational outreach, and sharing the art of dance through world-class dance performances. We strongly believe in fostering, preserving, and advancing a culture of equity to ensure an inclusive atmosphere both onstage and behind the scenes. ArtistiCO is committed to bringing the art of dance to educational institutions, unlimited stages, and to the hearts of our community. Within two years, ArtistiCO has evolved from its virtual platform to establishing two dance academy locations, a professional dance company &amp; is in the process of purchasing a home dance studio. We embrace various dance techniques, including Mexican folk dance, classical, and contemporary ballet. The organization offers a safe and inclusive space for artists from all backgrounds to showcase their talent, passion, and artistic experience with people from all over the world. The bilingual electro-pop star began her music career in 2017 in her hometown Cuenca, Ecuador and hit the top of the charts with her single “Real.” Upon moving to Denver in 2019, she released her debut album Real. Her hit single “Young” has amassed millions of streams and established her as one of the city’s top indie talents. She’s been touring her sophomore album Hyperreal since its release in April 2022. Neoma carries with her the culture and flag of Ecuador, winning over people of all backgrounds and uniting her crowds in any room she plays. Representing the Latinx community, she was the Spotify RADAR Andinos artist of 2022. In 2023, Neoma has shared a total of five releases, including two singles that serve as a preview of her upcoming era. His work has appeared in ANMLY. His short story, "A Violent Noise," was nominated for the 2020 PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize for Emerging Writers. He is a 2021 Periplus Collective Fellow, a 2021 NYFA IAP Mentor, and a 2023 Tin House Residency winner. He is also a Colorado Book Award finalist as editor of the anthology, All The Lives We Ever Lived: Vol 2. He is a graduate of NYU’s Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and Television. His film work - writing and directing - has been featured on MTV, Pitchfork, and Stereogum. He most recently won the CineLatino Pitch Latino Award for Emerging Filmmakers with my web series, Welcome to the Northside, a comedic take on gentrification and Latino displacement in North Denver.
