Some artists previously presented at West return in a new constellation, including Florian Hecker’s work at the intersection of electronics, music and performance, and the critical perspective of Josh Kline. New voices, such as interdisciplinary artist Sondra Perry, are introduced as part of the project and will be explored more extensively in the future. In the Alphabetum, the new exhibition explores the work of Italian poet and musicologist Amelia Rosselli.The musical programme, curated by Alex Andropoulos, brings a unique international selection of boundary-pushing artists to The Hague. From danceable experimental compositions to invigorating percussion and layered electronic music, the auditorium, basement and Alphabetum of the embassy will be filled with sounds you will encounter nowhere else in the city.Bòsc are an all female ensemble of traditional and folk instrument players. Through alternative methods of playing their traditional instruments, they re-imagine folk tradition, music and lyrics into an extremely expressive and impressively relevant form, resulting in a very captivating and beautiful concert.Riccardo La Foresta inventiveness has always been a pinnacle element of avant garde music, evident in the practice of inventing instruments or new methods of creating music on familiar instruments.We are extremely excited to have a trio: Farida Amadou / Sun-Mi Hong /Mette Rasmussen of incredible contemporary musicians perform together for the first time. All three have made big names for themselves as leading figures on their respective instruments in both composed and improvised music.Das Kinn (Toben Piel) takes his analogue dance music to extreme levels of sound and performance. Employing Post Punk, Kraut, Dance Music and Art Rock, and his angry and clear use of his native tongue in song form, he manages to create intimidating yet exhilarating angry pop music.The music of c_c (Édouard Ribouillault) is impressively complex and fills every corner of the dance floor. The audience is pulled in to a dance inducing trance while watching him calmly navigate the complex and rocky ship which is his set.The festival not only marks the beginning of a new cultural season, but also highlights the role of interdisciplinary art as a space for encounter, reflection and imagination.Onze Ambassade Festival #8 is part of Spotlight Festival.
