MISS MAYBELL — Vintage Jazz & Blues Vocalist (New York City)

Miss Maybell is a leading voice in New York’s vintage jazz revival, known for soulful interpretations of early jazz, blues, and American popular song. A regular performer at Birdland Jazz Club, she has appeared at festivals and venues across the United States and Europe.

Her work draws from rare early recordings and forgotten repertoire, bringing fresh life to songs from the ragtime era through the early decades of jazz. She has been featured on the NPR program “Person, Place, Thing” and has headlined international events including Sevilla Swing (Spain) and performances at Marian’s Jazz Room in Bern, Switzerland.

Brooklyn’s Sweet Tooth Jazz Band delivers a lively program tracing the evolution of jazz and blues from early roots music through the cool sounds of mid-century swing. The ensemble features Abe Pollack (bass), Ryan Weisheit (saxophone), Uri Zelig (drums), and Brad Brose (guitar).

A prominent presence in New York’s swing and traditional jazz scene, the band has toured widely across the East Coast and Midwest. Highlights include a feature on ABC’s Localish and appearances at the Bix Beiderbecke–inspired Heights of the Era festival in Davenport.

Members of the band have performed with Beck, Pokey LaFarge, Stéphane Wrembel, and Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks. Their recordings include the album "This Album Won’t Play Itself,” along with the video “Put Away Your Phone and Dance.”
