- **Event Description**: “THE PENNSY NORTH POLE EXPERIENCE”
AND “A VISIT FROM ST. NICHOLAS”
As you hear “ALL ABOARD!”, Conductor Ken will begin your adventure on the famous Christmas eve ride to the North Pole.
To begin, the room is set with the chairs in rows to simulate a train coach, allowing Conductor Ken to make his way through asking for tickets from children, asking their age, and then punching that many holes in the ticket for them to keep.
*To immerse themselves in the story, it’s recommended that the kids at least come wearing pajamas so they feel a part of the story as it unfolds.
Conductor Ken will take the POV as the replacement conductor retired from his duty on the PRR’s Broadway Limited, comparing that fast train to the new experience as conductor on the PoEx.
Using railroaders’ terms and giving a sense of the fantasy that everybody is on a train pulled by a steam locomotive, you will be carried along with the action. The story is told in 15 minutes, summing up the memorable points familiar within the tale, but some new elements explained and introduced with a little railroad and PA state history too.
Following the tale, Ken introduces the Clement C. Moore poem by asking all guests to sit back, close their eyes and visualize while he reads it, like a bed time story on Christmas eve.
At the end, many folks have remarked they leave with a great sense of the spirit of the season and embrace the nostalgia that only a toy train can produce, and it really sets them in mood to believe.
