Blood Moon and Lunar Eclipse experience

Get ready to experience the amazing Blood Moon and Lunar Eclipse phenomena at Sky Meadows State Park. Bring your family, your friends, and your sense of adventure to witness nature's spectacular show at an International Dark Sky Park. During this rare phenomenon, the Moon will glide through Earth’s shadow, transforming from its familiar silver glow into a deep, coppery red. The eclipse will reach its peak in the in the early morning hours, offering an unforgettable view. What better way to kick off your day?

The park's main gate will open at 5:30 a.m. for viewers. The eclipse is expected to peak between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. We will experience the Blood Moon in the Historic Area - at the back lawn of the Mount Bleak house. Park Rangers will be available to welcome early morning viewers, discuss the science behind lunar eclipses, and to facilitate your Blood Moon experience against the incredible backdrop of the Crooked Run Valley.

Tips for Visitors: Please dress for the weather (warm coat and footwear) and bring a lawn chair or mat to lay on. Bring binoculars or a telescope for enhanced viewing! Rangers will have a limited number of binoculars to borrow for this the event.
