Yerkes Observatory Tour

The NIU Observatory is planning a tour to visit the Yerkes Observatory in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, on April 25th, 2026. Yerkes is a wonderfully historic building, and is home to the worlds largest refracting telescope. Participants will enjoy a 90 minute tour of the building and grounds, followed by time to explore scenic downtown Lake Geneva. Tickets are $25 per person, and transportation to and from the event will be provided by the NIU Observatory. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. We will meet at NIU at 11am, and plan to leave campus by 11:15am, and arrive at Yerkes around 12:45. Our tour is from 1-2:30pm. Following the tour and free time we will meet to head back to DeKalb at 4:30pm and should return to campus around 6pm.
