- **Event Description**: On April 15, 1874, the world of Western Art was revolutionized when a group of painters chose to pursue using their own venue to exhibit their new work, after being rejected by the Paris Salon. Claude Monet reigned supreme as the founder and leader of the movement that became known as “Impressionism.” The movement received its name after French journalist Louis Leroy published the article, “The Exhibition of the Impressionists.”

During this program, we will discuss the history of this movement and the artistic traits that are associated with it. The program will conclude with a viewing of a documentary on Claude Monet.

This program is free and intended for teens and adults. No registration is required.
