Dead Serious, de Belgische cult thrash metalband, is terug! Oorspronkelijk opgericht in 1987, speelde de band haar laatste liveconcert in 1993. Hun stijl wordt omschreven als old-school ‘Bay Area style’ thrash, in de geest van legendarische bands als Anthrax en Exodus. Humor was altijd een essentieel onderdeel van hun muziek, teksten en uitstraling. Tijdens hun actieve periode nam Dead Serious één album op: It's A Nice Day, opgenomen in 1989. Door het faillissement van het label werd de release uitgesteld tot 1991, toen het album uiteindelijk via West Virginia Records (Duitsland) op cd werd uitgebracht. Het album verkocht uitstekend in Duitsland, Nederland en België, en de band speelde talloze shows en festivals, en supports voor o.a. Messiah, Pestilence, Blind Fury, Faithful Breath, Cyclone, enz. Tragisch genoeg betekende het noodlottige verkeersongeval van drummer Marc Vereecken in 1993 het einde van de band. Ondanks hun lange afwezigheid bleef Dead Serious een cultstatus behouden. De vraag naar een reünie bleef groot en een bewijs daarvan was de succesvolle heruitgave van It's A Nice Day in 2021. Ditmaal werd de originele cd geremasterd en opnieuw uitgebracht door Sounds of Hell Records, inclusief enkele bonustracks. Toen in 2021 ook frontman en podiumbeest Armando Thiebaut overleed, leek een comeback voorgoed onmogelijk. Toch heeft het lot anders beslist. Drie jonge getalenteerde muzikanten zijn toegetreden om de nalatenschap van Dead Serious nieuw leven in te blazen: Jan Schepens op gitaar, Xavier Weekers (ook bekend van Tyrant King) op drums en William Lawson (frontman van Promise Down), een zanger die niet alleen opvallend veel op de jonge Armando lijkt, maar ook griezelig goed zijn sound benadert. Samen met originele bandleden Jan Van Der Poorten (gitaar) en Gunther ‘Gunny’ Poppe (basgitaar) – beiden ook aan het werk bij Cult of Scarecrow - brengen ze Dead Serious terug tot leven. Momenteel werkt de band hard aan het instuderen van het oude repertoire, met als doel eind 2025 weer het podium te betreden—maar liefst 32 (!) jaar na hun laatste show! Dead Serious 2025 Line-up: ?
