Mrs. Kamna Chandra
Mrs. Kamna Chandra has always been a lover of literature, reading and writing. She studied in MKP, Dehradun and has a B.A. Degree from Allahabad University as well as a Masters Degree in Hindi Literature. In her early script-writing years she regularly wrote plays for All India Radio and for Doordarshan. Her short stories have been published in Femina, Dharmayug, Sarita, Sarika, Vama and many more publications.
Her film debut was for none other than Raj Kapoor. She wrote the story of his acclaimed and commercially successful Prem Rog, starring Rishi Kapoor and Padmini Kolhapure. For this film, she also received an award for Best Story. This was followed by Yash Chopras Chandni, starring Rishi Kapoor, Vinod Khanna and Sridevi. This film too was a huge commercial hit. She then wrote some critically acclaimed films for directors Aruna Raje and Vidhu Vinod Chopra. She is co-writer of Kareeb (starring Bobby Deol) and 1942 A Love Story (starring Anil Kapoor, Manisha Koirala, Jackie Shroff) and Story, Screenplay and Dialogue writer of Bhairavi.
Besides film scripts, Mrs. Chandra has worked on several Television serials as well. She wrote Trishna, Kashish, Naukri, and Aulad for Doordarshan, Kuchh Is Tarah for C.P.C., and Tamanna (directed by Ravi Rai) for SAB TV.
She was most recently, Script Consultant at Rajshri Productions for their hit show, Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki.
Apart from this, she has had a book published, called, Prem Rog and other Short Stories.
