Christmas Songs & Their Stories

Of all the holidays we celebrate, Christmas is the one that gets us singing. From “Jingle Bells” to “Silent Night,” from “Go Tell It on the Mountain” to “Joy to the World” - just the sound of the music gets us in the mood to sing along and be filled with the Christmas Spirit.

Many of these Christmas songs have fascinating stories behind them. Was “Jingle Bells” really written in Savannah, Georgia during the Civil War? Or was it written in Boston, where there’s a lot more snow? What was the first Christmas music ever performed and broadcast live from outer space by American astronauts?

Marian Korth has discovered some of these stories, and has put together a Christmas Story-Telling and Christmas Sing-along program, titled “Christmas Songs & Their Stories.” She and Mim Jacobson will lead us in singing in the Christmas Season on Sunday afternoon, December 7, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.
