**South Carolina Songwriters Showcase live at Eddie's Attic!**
Shane Williams and Warren Bazemore of Finnegan Bell were approached to organize a writers in the round at The Southern in Mount Pleasant a few years back. They got in touch with their friend Bobby Houck, of Charleston’s legendary Blue Dogs to help pull the night together. Eventually, Williams reached out to Andrew Hyra, from Atlanta’s Billy Pilgrim, who had recently made Mount Pleasant home, to join in on the action. So for a few Thursdays a month, they showed up without a practice to entertain a loud barroom with original songs. Each of the singers were familiar with a few of the others tunes. Shane, Warren and Bobby had co written some songs together that were featured on the Blue Dogs Big Dreamers album. The three of them were acquainted with Hyra’s Billy Pilgrim material from the duos numerous runs into South Carolina in the nineties. These the seeds of a musical chemistry that has evolved organically at the Southern. The four part harmony reminds Hyra of the Wagon Wheels, which he was a part of when they wowed the Attics audiences in the nineties, winning an Atlanta music award for best folk group along the way. At times the four part harmony is luminous and transcendent and can render the loud Southern crowd silent. It’s a magical current and is sure to wow the Attic crowd anew.
The quartet has not settled on a name. This is brand new. No need to chase down those barriers yet. Each of the different members have impressive musical resumes. Bobby is the lead singer and songwriter of Charleston’s incredible Blue Dogs, South Carolina legends. Andrew is a co founding member of Billy Pilgrim, the storied folk duo who christened the Attic with Michelle Malone on its opening weekend in 1992. Finnegan Bell is not capable of writing a bad song. The duo weaves a tight dynamic harmonic spell around every entrancing number. The four of them make some beautiful music. Come check it out on January 10!
