Registration is required; please read the event details below.Workshop DescriptionThrough collaborative discussion and hands-on discovery, we will investigate a wide array of fungal forms, life cycles, ecology, and folklore to learn what fungi can teach us about queerness and community. We will examine and build upon the work of Dr. Patricia Ononiwu Kaishian, Maria Pinto, David Griffiths, and other mycologists, writers, and researchers, both contemporary and historical. Whether you are already in love with fungi or totally new to them, this is a welcoming space for learning together!Registration is required, as spots are limited. RSVP here! A sliding scale donation of $10-20 per attendee will help cover Eliza’s preparation, facilitation, and workshop materials; a portion of the funds will be donated to the Charis Circle programming nonprofit.About the Workshop FacilitatorEliza Crofts (they/them) is an ecological educator and artist who teaches classes on mushroom identification and foraging. Eliza is writing and illustrating a book about queer mycology, and their research has inspired them to invite folks into the fungal world through gatherings like this one! Most of our shelves are on wheels and can be moved to provide additional access. The insides are all level and flat with ramps to access various areas of the space. Our bathrooms are wheelchair accessible and gender neutral with motion activated fixtures. Both bathrooms have wheelchair accessible baby changing tables.
