The exhibit features souvenirs and mementos loaned by local community members who have experienced Mardi Gras in New Orleans or enjoyed NOLA traditions closer to home, including fine and folk arts that highlight the color, music, and spirit of Carnival season. This gallery will also feature a selection from artist Natalie Jackson's Straight, No Chaser series, focused on jazz. ​

At the First Friday Opening, enjoy live New Orleans–style jazz by CT Trio in the gallery along with Mardi Gras–inspired bites and beverages as you explore the display. All are welcome to drop in, mingle, and soak up the festive atmosphere; the event and exhibit are free and open to the public.

This event is presented in cooperation with the Children's Museum of Illinois, in support of their annual Mardi Gras Fundraiser.
