We walk step by step through the Texas statutory form of affidavit and discuss the various provisions and their importance. We then turn to the laws of intestate succession. We first discuss the distinction between community and separate property and then apply the laws of intestate succession to various scenarios. We highlight the change in the intestacy laws since September 1993 and discuss and distinguish between intestate succession when dying married as opposed to dying unmarried. The course ends with a general summary regarding affidavits of heirship and their purpose and allows brief time for questions and answers. Cost: $10.00 per realtor or free without credit. We do not accept cash or checks. FAQsWhat can I bring into the event?Please be prepared to bring and show your photo ID.How can I contact the organizer with any questions?For general event questions please email: TXAgency@wltic.com.What's the refund policy?An attendee may cancel their registration up to 2 business days (48 hours) before the scheduled class and will be refunded in full. No shows will not be refunded. Funds are not transferable. No vouchers or exchanges are permitted.What's the Provider's Cancellation policy?The provider will notify each registered attendee of said cancellation. Acceptable forms of notification include: email, text, or call. Any classes for 3 or fewer registered Realtors maybe subject to cancelation. In situations of inclement weather the provider will notify each registered attendee of cancelation. If the provider cancels a course all funds will be refunded within 30 days of the date of cancellation.Instructor: Collin Luna, Regional Underwriting CounselCollin is part of Westcor’s regional underwriting team. He earned his law degree from Baylor (2022) and a BBA in marketing from Texas A&M (2019). Before joining Westcor in 2022, he gained experience with a national underwriter, title companies, and a title examination firm. Outside of work, he enjoys fishing and cheering on Dallas and Texas A&M sports teams.
