For those of you who haven’t done it before, it’s a lot of fun! Here are the details for the parade:
1) Be at the West De Pere High School parking lot by 8:30am. You will not be able to park there; you will either drop off your kids or you will need to find a place to park around the Community Center. Check back regularly as we will be sharing a map for those of you not familiar with the process. We will also share our slot number as soon as we have it. I am not sure when they will close the bridge , so if you plan on dropping off and parking on the east side, plan to drop off a little earlier. The high school parking lot is open at 8am. We encourage participants to wear any De Pere hockey clothing they may have!
2) If the kids are roller blading, please plan on helmets if they are on the younger side. FYI, they will need to go over train tracks on the route. If you have red/white/blue clothing, please wear it if you are not wearing a jersey.
3) We will meet at West De Pere High School. The parade route will once again begin at the intersection of Grant Street and South 6th Street, and will follow the route used in the past: east on Grant Street to 5th Street; north on 5th Street to Main Avenue; east on Main Avenue across the Claude Allouez Bridge, and then north on Broadway to Cass Street. We will end by the Kress library.
4) Absolutely NO SMOKING along the parade route or in the staging area.
5) Absolutely NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES or glass containers in the staging area or along the parade route.
6) Absolutely NO SQUIRT GUNS, WATER PISTOLS OR “SOAKERS” used by parade participants will be allowed along the parade route.
7) ABSOLUTELY NO THROWING CANDY ALONG THE PARADE ROUTE. You may hand out candy along the curb. This is a City of De Pere ordinance. Kids can bring their hockey sticks to carry if they want, but they can’t use them to “shoot” candy at anyone!
