Snowshoe Discovery Tour: Canaan Valley Chronicles

Moonshine, gunfights, and train wrecks—the tale of how Canaan Valley came to be as we know it today is filled with many sensational stories. Join Ranger JJ on this interpretive hike to hear some of the history surrounding the refuge.

This walk begins at 10AM at the White Grass Ski Touring Center and follows some of the refuge's XC ski trails. The walk will be around two miles and will include uneven terrain. This event may be canceled in the event of inclement weather. Please stay tuned to our website and Facebook page for updates to this event.

Our winter walks take place on snowshoes, conditions allowing. Snowshoes for the Snowshoe Discovery Tours are provided by White Grass. Snowshoe Discovery Tours take place every Sunday from January to March.
