Snowshoe Discovery Tour: Buds, Bark, and Branches

As cold temperatures and blustering winds threaten forests in the winter, trees are making some big changes on the inside. Join AmeriCorps Member Elizabeth Mahoney on this guided hike to peel back the mystery of how trees survive winter, and learn how to identify trees without their leaves!

This walk begins at 10AM at the White Grass Ski Touring Center and follows some of the refuge's XC ski trails. The walk will be around two miles and will include uneven terrain. This event may be canceled in the event of inclement weather. Please stay tuned to our website and Facebook page for updates to this event.

Our winter walks take place on snowshoes, conditions allowing. Snowshoes for the Snowshoe Discovery Tours are provided by White Grass. Snowshoe Discovery Tours take place every Sunday from January to March.
