- **Event Description**: Interested in learning about the birds around us in a fun and engaging way? Then come join us this spring at this public bird banding event on Dauphin Island in Mobile, Alabama co-hosted by us and Dauphin Island Bird Sanctuaries (DIBS)! Not only will you have the opportunity to get an up close look at a wide range of native and migratory birds, you’ll also be able to observe and learn about the process of bird banding and why it’s important to avian conservation efforts. You will also learn about DIBS' important role in conserving migratory bird habitat on Dauphin Island and how you can help. 

Our crew of licensed banders and experienced volunteers will share life history information about each species, and are happy to answer any questions you may have throughout the event. Photos are encouraged!

This unique experience is one our most anticipated public outreach event of the year. We can’t wait to see you there! BCA and DIBS are both an all volunteer operated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We rely on public donations to be able to do events such as this one. 

IMPORTANT DETAILS: 
The banding session will be held across from the Goat Tree Reserve on the corner of Cadillac Avenue and Grant Street (if you enter the address for banding below you won't miss it). Parking and restrooms are available at Cadillac Square Park on Bienville Blvd. There will be signs to denote where the banding is occuring.

Things to keep in mind when visiting the station:

- Remember bug spray, sunscreen, water/snacks, and chairs (if you plan to stay for an extended amount of time). Closed toe shoes are recommended. 
- If you have a disability and are concerned about access, please reach out to us in advanced so we can arrange your visit. Email: kyle@bandingcoalition.org. 
- Bring your friends and families but please leave your pets at home. 
- If you would like to attend as an organized group (school group, birding group, etc.) please email us in advance to schedule your visit to best accomodate. Email: kyle@bandingcoalition.org
- There is no entry fee to Dauphin Island. Our event is free, but donations are welcome.
