Calling all adventure seekers! Ever wondered what it’s like to stand at the top of the iconic white tower overlooking Giba Gorge?

Now’s your chance to conquer the legendary Clifton Lookout Tower — also known as the Shongweni Fire Lookout Tower / White Hut.

Originally built by Tongaat Hulett to monitor forest and sugarcane fires, this iconic tower offers incredible views and one seriously memorable photo opportunity! ?

And this time, we’re taking the easier shortcut from Westown Mall — so you don't have to be a tough cookie to get that legendary tower photo! ?

Meeting Point: Westown Mall – outside Entrance No. 2

⚠️ PLEASE NOTE

This hike forms the first section of our Ultimate Shongweni Challenge — a gruelling 23km hike through some of Shongweni's toughest terrain.

Because of this, the Clifton Lookout section will be walked at a fairly fast pace.

We’ll hike to the tower and back to the main intersection outside Westown Mall, where the group will split.

Those doing the Clifton Lookout Tower Challenge will finish there.

The Ultimate Shongweni Challenge group will continue on to tackle the full 23km route, including the top and bottom of Kirk, also known as Wekeweke Falls — Durban's tallest waterfall, standing over 100m tall! ??
