To commemorate the act of Parliament in August 1896 cementing the right of the people of Darwen to roam on the moors. Combined with a date close to the autumn equinox for good measure!
The rough plan is to have two walk levels, one for all from Boldventure Park up to the tower and back with a small celebration at the tower. Then if the weather and turnout is suitable, anyone with itchy legs can go over to Tockholes for a pint or across the top to Duckshaw Road and down Bury Fold then back into town.
Any and all suggestions welcome, I just wanted to get something going to commemorate the event and bring us all together.
