Throughout 2026, Darrington Historical Society has selected several books that feature stories about the town, the surrounding mountains, and the people who made them what they are today. It's a great opportunity to learn about the rugged characters and colorful stories of Darrington's past!
Book discussion will be facilitated by the Darrington Historical Society. See below for a list of book selections:
-February 2: No reading necessary for this first event! Show up, learn about the upcoming books, and meet with members of the Historical Society.
- February 19: Darrington: Mining Town / Timber Town by Elizabeth Poehlman.
- April 16: Last Frontier of the North Cascades by Will Jenkins
- June 18: Timber Bowl Valley by Alice Younkin
- August 20: Switchbacks by Andy Holland
- October 15: Two Voices by Jean Fish Bedal and Edith Bedal
- December 17: Reader's Choice (from a list of relevant titles to be provided)
Darrington Historical Society will assist in making copies of these titles available, and many are available through the Darrington Library's Reference Collection.
