Published in 2014, Blue Horse is brilliant, daring, fluent, modernist. The title poem shows poetry is not to be denied. The blue horse takes on skycolour ‘and stands / dreaming / of invisible / stars. / having soared he is lame to earth / favours a cracked fetlock the cost of his courage // I want to go with him I would pay that price’.Lindsay Balderson and Marilyn Longstaff will lead this workshop. They will provide a series of writing exercises based on poems from the book. It is open to anyone interested in writing, in whatever form. All participants will be given a copy of the book to take home.Joanna Boulter was a fine poet. She was a founding member of Vane Women. She set up Arrowhead Press with her husband, Roger Collett, to publish poetry collections. She was the author of three pamphlets and three full collections. Her book, Twenty Four Preludes and Fugues on Dmitri Shostakovich (Arc), was shortlisted for the Forward first collection.
