Bridge to Bridge "North"

Bridge to Bridge "North" is now 3 mountain bike rides on the Northern Bank of the Waimakariri River.
The 60km ride starting at the Waimakariri Golf Course on Thongcaster Road, 1km north of the Gorge,
30km starting off Downs Road halfway down the river and
The 15km starting at Harrs Road stop bank.

The 60km race will start outside the Golf Club, on Thongcaster Road, travel to Browns Rock Road and go into the river at the Intake. The ride will then travel east, through to the finish going past the State Highway One river bridges, through Waimakariri Park back on to the stop bank to Kaiapoi and finish on Raven Quay.

The 30km event will start at Downs Road and travel east past the State Highway One river bridges, through Waimakariri Park back on to the stop bank to Kaiapoi and finish on Raven Quay.

The 15km event will start at Harrs Road and travel east on the stop bank to State Highway One river bridges, through Waimakariri Park back on to the stop bank to Kaiapoi and finish on Raven Quay. This is ideal for children to get the experience of mountain bike racing. We also recommend for young children to have a parent as a support rider.

The 60km ride is a mix of shingle, stop bank and single track except for the Thongcaster Road portion. Ecan gates for the ride will be open and you won’t have to get off your bike to get over the gates, these are easily managed to keep other traffic out of the area. The 30km ride will be on a mix shingle, stop bank and single track all the way, while the 15km is stop bank and single track riding.

Directional marking will be by Pink paint on the roads and red directional arrows where required. This will be a fast mountain bike ride, great for a mid-year ride especially as it is downhill all the way.

Start time for the 30km and 60km races is 10:00am and the 15km at 9:45am the earlier start is so the slower riders from the 15km aren't caught by the leaders in the 30km race.

Cut Off Times
The following cut off times will be adhered to for the 60km race. If you don't meet these times you will be asked to get in the Tail End Charlie vehicle and be withdrawn from the race.
Downs Road - 11:50am
Harrs Road - 12:45pm
Finish 2:00pm
