The Bug Chicks bring insects to life using preserved specimens and their live arthropod zoo. Selected volunteers will be able to hold, pet and touch many of the animals they bring. 

They tie in concepts like bravery, empowerment, open-mindedness, educational potential, science inquiry, and careers while engaging with those in attendance and love to answer questions so the experience is incredibly interactive.

"Fear to fascination! We used to be afraid of bugs. But learning about the thing you’re afraid of changes fear to fascination. We are here to help you change your relationship with bugs. We help students feel that they are capable of anything- and we use bugs to do it!"

Kristie Reddick and Jessica Honaker (The Bug Chicks) are entomologists and sci-comm professionals who use the science of entomology to inspire students to foster empathy for themselves, others and the natural world.
