🎊We are so excited to announce our Grand Opening!🐾

As you may have seen, earlier this year our shelter experienced a change in leadership, bringing with it a renewed sense of purpose and dedication to our community. Our new leadership team has been working  to strengthen our organization, improve operations, and create a welcoming environment for both animals and the people who love them.

Along with updates to the facility we are excited to announce that the operating name of our organization is in the process of being changed to Second Chance Animal Adoption Center (& Thrift Shop).

The decision of the name change is to provide clarity of our mission, that we are a transitional space for animals awaiting their forever homes. We also want to be clear that we are a stand alone 501(c)(3) non profit. The title of “Humane Society of Danville” leads to the perception that we are connected with and receive financial support from the City of Danville, Vermilion County and its shelter, or The Humane Society of the US ( now called Humane World For Animals).

Please join us Sunday September 20th for our Grand Opening as Second Chance Animal Adoption Center!

The event will be from 3-7 pm. There will be food, sweet treats, and pet themed vendors! A percentage of all purchases will be donated to our organization. 

There will be cats at the facility reopening! Due to expected activity in the kennels and throughout the building we will introduce dogs the following week, to reduce risk of anxiety and overwhelm.

We are excited to partner with U of I Small Animal mobile clinic, who have graciously donated 50 free vaccination appointments! There will be a table set up for community members to book their appointments during our open house! The vaccination appointment day is scheduled for Monday, October 5th. Let friends and family know! The appointments are to be made in person at the grand opening, on a first-come, first-served basis!
