New and returning Eagle Watch volunteers are invited to join us Saturday, December 13 from 10am-12pm at the Highlights Facility at Boyds Mills for an in-person training and opportunity to pick up training manuals and other materials for the winter season. Following the gathering, volunteers are invited to take a self-guided tour of the Eagle Observation Areas. Please contact us if you are not able to attend the in-person training and are interested in being an Eagle Watch volunteer.

Main monitoring areas are Mongaup Reservoir and the Delaware River at Minisink Falls and the Zane Grey boat launch at Lackawaxen. On site, volunteers collect data on wintering eagles and resident pairs. They educate the public in “Eagle Etiquette” and on how to have the best eagle watching experience. Volunteers are also needed to help staff booths, do workshops, and participate in other eagle-related events.

Please note, space at the training is limited to 50 volunteers and advance registration is required. Please register early to reserve your spot!
